Job Summary:
Consultant Advisor - Oracle Health Julie Easley is recruiting this position.
Our East Coast client is seeking an Inpatient Coding Auditor with a CCS Certification for a 12-16 month remote contract.
Coding Auditor Requirements
- Must have 3-5 years experience as an Inpatient Coding Auditor (Hospital side)
- CCS Certification is required (non-negotiable)
- Must be able to write and audit executive summary
- Will be required to take a Coding Auditor Assessment
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
- Review daily Audit work queue assignments and determine the coding validity by auditing each claim's documentation, coding, and DRG Grouper.
- Audit each claim according to the coding Guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements unique to the individual payer.
- Utilize the appropriate resources and references to justify the correct codes.
- Discuss findings with coders and escalate to the Coding Manager as necessary.
- Identify documentation deficiencies that contribute to coding errors and escalate them to the Coding Manager.
- Identify opportunities to increase Severity of Illness and Risk of Mortality.
- Establish a strong working relationship with Clinical Documentation Improvement to ensure that reimbursement and quality measures are optimized.
- Provide coding-related education to other departments as needed.
- Must be able to represent coding in meetings.
- Identify trends in coding errors and provide pertinent education and training to coding staff.
