Job Summary:

Senior Consultant Advisor, EMR Christine Woods is recruiting this position.
We are seeking an experienced Interim CMIO to provide executive-level clinical informatics leadership during our health system’s implementation of the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR). The interim CMIO will act as a vital liaison between IT, clinical leadership, and frontline providers to ensure the successful deployment, optimization, and adoption of Epic across all care settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary clinical informatics leader and advisor for the Epic implementation project.
- Collaborate closely with Epic project leadership, operational leadership, and clinical stakeholders to align the EHR with organizational goals and clinical best practices.
- Drive clinician engagement, input, and buy-in throughout all stages of implementation.
- Ensure the build, workflows, order sets, and decision support tools meet clinical needs and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in governance committees related to clinical content, provider personalization, and change management.
- Partner with CMIO peers, CNIO, and Physician Builders to support training, activation planning, and workflow design.
- Guide optimization strategies and physician adoption post-go-live.
- Support development of policies and governance structures related to clinical documentation, data standards, and informatics strategy.
- Address issues related to provider burden, documentation workflows, and clinical safety as they arise during the implementation.
- Serve as an executive-level clinical voice in project meetings and report regularly to the executive steering committee.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO with current licensure (active or eligible in [state]).
- Minimum 5 years of clinical practice experience; board certification required.
- Minimum 3 years of CMIO, Associate CMIO, or similar informatics leadership experience.
- Direct experience supporting or leading an Epic EHR implementation (go-live, build, optimization, training).
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows in inpatient, ambulatory, and specialty care settings.
- Proven track record of physician engagement and change management in a complex environment.
- Experience with clinical governance and enterprise transformation projects.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Clinical Informatics (AMIA or board-certified preferred).
- Epic certifications in one or more modules (e.g., EpicCare Ambulatory, Inpatient Orders, ClinDoc, etc.).
- Familiarity with value-based care models, analytics, and clinical quality improvement initiatives.
Engagement Model:
This is a part-time interim role with a mix of onsite and remote engagement. Travel expectations will be based on project needs and critical milestone activities (e.g., workflow validation, training, go-live).
