Our East Coast Healthcare client is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support hospital financial operations. This is a hands-on, production-focused role ideal for someone who thrives working independently in a fast-paced, shared office environment. This 12 month contract role is 5-days per week (100% onsite) in Valhalla NY.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records in accordance with GAAP
• Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules
• Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and prepaid analyses
• Support month-end close, audits, and budget preparation
• Analyze expense and FTE variances against budget
• Assist with tax filings (990s, 1120s, CHAR500) and regulatory reporting
• Liaise with external auditors and provide required documentation
• Monitor capital assets, depreciation schedules, and debt obligations
• Maintain financial systems data and reporting tools

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
• 3–5 years of accounting experience (healthcare preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
• Experience with financial systems such as Veradigm (Allscripts/McKesson) and Strata strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Infor, Lawson, Kronos, Cerner, or similar systems is a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Additional Details

• Must be able to work on-site 5 days/week
• Flexibility to work extended hours and occasional weekends during close, audit, and budget cycles
• Limited time off during peak periods (January and Sept–October)
• Contract role with potential extension up to 18 months
