Position Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day operational support, maintenance, remediation, and infrastructure management of Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDFs) and Main Distribution Frames (MDFs). Ensures IT spaces meet organizational standards for cabling, power, cooling, security, cleanliness, and operational readiness while supporting infrastructure projects and maintaining accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute day-to-day operational activities and project-related tasks within assigned IDF and MDF environments.
  2. Support and manage low-voltage cabling (LVC), space utilization, physical security, power, and cooling initiatives within IT infrastructure rooms.
  3. Support IT room remediation projects and provide post-remediation operational support. Collaborate effectively with hospital personnel, including clinical and non-clinical staff, to coordinate activities and minimize operational impact.
  4. Partner with Real Estate, Facilities, Engineering, and other support teams to identify and resolve power, cooling, and environmental deficiencies within IDF and MDF locations.
  5. Coordinate with security teams and vendors to address physical security concerns, including the installation and maintenance of access control systems and card readers for IT spaces.
  6. Assess, recommend, and implement cable plant infrastructure improvements. Identify deficiencies, enforce cabling standards, remediate non-compliant installations, and coordinate corrective actions with appropriate teams.
  7. Develop and deliver patching and cabling best-practice training to teams performing network patching activities, ensuring adherence to organizational standards.
  8. Conduct routine inspections ("rounding") of assigned IDF and MDF locations to evaluate operational readiness, identify deficiencies, and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
  9. Maintain IT rooms in a clean, organized, and serviceable condition. This includes removal of debris, unused materials, abandoned equipment, and the cleaning of network infrastructure when required.
  10. Coordinate the decommissioning, disposition, and removal of obsolete or legacy equipment located in IT rooms, racks, and cabinets.
  11. Perform network port scrubs to optimize network infrastructure utilization.
  12. Create, maintain, and update rack elevation diagrams and related infrastructure documentation for IDF and MDF environments.
  13. Manage and track assigned operational and project tasks utilizing ServiceNow, SharePoint, and other platforms.
  14. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office 365 suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  2. Prior experience with ServiceNow, preferred
  3. Familiar with Cisco Network Switches
  4. Familiar with Vertiv UPS equipment
  5. Prior experience maintaining IDFs/MDFs in a health care setting to include knowledge of power and cooling, preferred
