One of our California clients is seeking a technically proficient, vendor-neutral Solution Architect to lead the design, integration, and delivery of enterprise-grade solutions across both on-premise and cloud-native environments. This will be a 6 month initial contract with potential extensions, and they are ideally looking for people in the Bay Area available for a hybrid project as there will be some onsite.

This role requires deep architectural expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across complex enterprise landscapes. The ideal candidate is fluent in C4 modeling, highly experienced in API-centric system integration, and has exposure to AI-related solutioning—such as ML model integration, data pipeline orchestration, or intelligent automation. Healthcare (specifically Epic Community Connect) experience is a plus but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture Design: Develop and maintain architectural artifacts using the C4 model (Context, Container, Component, Code). Design scalable, modular solutions across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud-native platforms.
  • Solution Delivery: Translate business and technical requirements into practical, scalable, and maintainable solutions. Evaluate and recommend architectural patterns, platforms, and services, including AI/ML components where applicable.
  • API Integration and Design: Lead the design and governance of RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and secure external/internal integrations. Ensure API usability, scalability, and lifecycle alignment with enterprise strategy.
  • Project and Workload Management: Manage and prioritize multiple initiatives simultaneously, ensuring technical alignment and consistent solution delivery.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to align architecture with delivery priorities and long-term goals.
  • Documentation and Governance: Own the development of Solution Architecture Descriptions (SADs), interface specifications, compliance artifacts, and documentation aligned with standards such as Arc42.
  • Agile and Delivery Support: Support agile planning, sprint execution, estimation, and technical risk mitigation.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 8 or more years of experience in solution architecture, including leadership of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Proven expertise in API design, system integration, and cloud-native development.
  • Experience delivering or supporting AI-driven solutions (e.g., model orchestration, data services for ML pipelines, intelligent workflow integration).
  • Proficiency in C4 modeling and architecture documentation standards (e.g., Arc42, SAD).
  • Strong understanding of security, compliance, and data governance in regulated environments.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery frameworks such as SAFe or Scrum
